What is Abundance?

Inspired by Sheffield Abundance scheme we have decided to map, collect and use as much as possible of the tons of fruit produced right here in the village, much of which is left to rot on the ground. So many of us have fruit trees in our gardens which are not harvested and yet we are happy to go to the supermarket and buy fruit which has been sprayed with pesticides, wrapped in plastic, and shipped halfway around the world.

Abundance in Keyworth aims to educate people about the value of fruit trees in terms of human health, nutrition and ecology. We aim to pass on the skills to create and maintain a fruit tree. Fruiting is only one part of a natural cycle that continues throughout the year.

We also document the project through photographs so we can communicate the ideas and methods to others in a coloutful and interesting way.
